Some things that are/were thought to be lucky...

How to Get a Lucky Bone from a Cat.
Take a black cat & boil it until the flesh comes off the bones. Then take the bones to a river or stream & toss them in. The one that floats is the Lucky Bone. Carry this Lucky Bone in your pocket. (Is it just me,or does this not sound so "lucky" for the cat.)

Dude! Start Hoppin'!
Take the left leg of a live frog & sew it up in a piece of red flannel. Tie it around your neck so that it hangs over your breastbone. (Sounds pretty smelly to me....)
If you would rather,you can just put that live frog into a can of oil till his flesh seperates from his bones then take what looks like the clavicle or collar bone and carry it in your pocket. (Oh yes..much better..)

If your prefer that human touch....
Obtain from a grave the corpse's knee bone. Wash it,dry it & then bleach it in the sun. Place it in a red flannel bag & carry it in your pocket.

From a man's grave obtain the little finger of the left hand. Soak it in alcohol for 9 days then take it back to the grave & bury it in the breast area. Pour sweet milk over the area for 9 more days. Dig it up and carry it in a red flannel bag. Make sure you sprinkle it often with High John oil. (Fingers are thought to be lucky for gambling as we use them to hold the cards,throw dice,shoot pool etc... )
